The Poncan Theatre Capital Campaign

Greetings from the Poncan Theatre,
The Historical Poncan Theatre, 501(c)3, was built in 1927 and added to the National Register of Historical Places in 1985. Next year, 2017, the Poncan will be celebrating its 90th birthday and is very much alive and serving the community. This beautiful venue is a large asset to the community and hosts a variety of shows such as live theatre, movies, concerts, wedding, conferences, Bison / Bison Film Festival, Ponca City Concert Series, Ponca City Arts & Humanities and Evan's Children's Academy of Performing Arts.

The theatre was closed from 1985 to 1994 due to financial difficulties. During this time there was consideration of tearing down the theatre and making it a parking lot. A large group of Ponca citizens, who had a love and passion to see the Poncan remain a part of the community, united together and with their gifts of goods and money and also many gave endless hours of hands-on labor, the Poncan was re-opened in 1994. Since 1994 it has remained a highly sought after venue for a variety of events.

It has been approximately 22 years since the last renovations took place at the theatre. Due to the continued use of a 90 year old building, there have been some repair issues that greatly need some attention for the Poncan to remain such a beautiful part of our community.

As we approach the 90th anniversary of the Poncan Theatre we are making plans for a great year of entertainment and making sure that many generations to come get to enjoy this facility.

We are inviting you to be a donor in making sure that the Historical Poncan Theatre will be a part of the Ponca City Community for next 90 years. The theatre is a 501(c)3 and all donations are tax deductible. A commitment has been made to the Poncan Theatre that all donations will be matched dollar for dollar.
Thank you for your consideration,

The mission of the 1927 Historical Poncan Theatre is to help enrich the entertainment of persons / families and to broaden their appreciation of the arts.
